Many visitors stopped for a look, to buy a raffle ticket or find out more about club activities. Proceeds from the raffle amounted to £100.00; all the shirts, caps and umbrellas were sold by Sunday afternoon. Our special offer of a trip to the Onion Festival in Witten, including hotel accommodation, for just £150.00 was also a success. Nine people, who had never been to Witten before, signed up. The new Mayor, Nirmal Singh Gill, accompanied by Angela and Erich Bremm also visited the tent and then, over a joint lunch, had a chat about the future of the twinning arrangement. Our English friends Corinne, Rick, Terry und Sandra were all highly committed, thus encouraging hope that the close relationship between our two towns will not decline with the departure of Mary Golletz as Twinning Officer. All the effort that went into in the Community Tent at the Town Show 2010 paid off handsomely. Together with friends from the Club's English Section, the Witten team of Werner Weis, Klaus Völkel, Veronika Masling, Fred Stalljohann and Helmut Rüdiger were on hand to present the work of the two sections, sell raffle tickets and generally publicise the town twinning arrangement.
